Gogo Launches New Multimedia Platform, adds Gogo Vision on Select Delta Flights
Oct 5, 2011

ITASCA, Ill., Oct. 5, 2011 – Gogo, a leading provider of in-flight connectivity, today announced the launch of its new multimedia platform. Delta Air Lines is the first airline partner to receive the new platform. The new platform is being rolled out to all Gogo® equipped Delta aircraft through the month of October.

The new in-air multimedia platform extends the company beyond Internet connectivity to offer passengers exclusive access to online services that include real-time travel information, destination content, news and information, exclusive shopping deals and Gogo’s new video product – Gogo Vision.

“When we first started offering internet connectivity, it became clear to us that we could offer travelers so much more to enhance their travel experience,” said Ash ElDifrawi, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Gogo. “Today, travelers look to Gogo to keep them connected in air and, while connectivity remains at the heart of our business, we are thrilled to offer travelers this new form of entertainment at 30,000 ft.”

The new platform allows for airline customization and, in Delta’s case, will carry the brand name “Delta Connect” onboard Delta’s aircraft. Several companies have signed on to partner with Gogo’s new multimedia platform including Gilt.com and OpenTable.com.

Delta will also offer Gogo’s new video on demand product – Gogo Vision – on all 16 of its Boeing 757-300 aircraft. Gogo’s video on demand product offers more than 100 television and movie titles from major Hollywood studios. Introductory pricing for videos on Delta will start at just $.99 for television programs and $3.99 for movies.

Passengers on Delta will also be able to take advantage of Gogo’s exclusive video feature that allows them to continue viewing a program after they’ve landed. Customers who do not finish watching their movies and TV shows on the plane will be able to access the content from the ground for a limited time.

“The introduction of this new platform enables our airline partners to customize the experience to reflect their brand and it also offers passengers a wide range of entertainment options on their own personal device, many of which are free of charge” added ElDifrawi.

Gogo worked with design and innovation firm IDEO to define and build the new platform. Gogo engaged with IDEO to better understand the needs of travelers and the airlines.

By allowing travelers to get online, in air, Gogo keeps them connected to life. Using Gogo’s exclusive network and services, passengers with laptops and other Wi-Fi enabled devices can get online on all domestic AirTran Airways, Delta Air Lines, and Virgin America flights and on select Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines, and US Airways.

Back on the ground, Gogo’s 350+ employees in Itasca, IL and Broomfield, CO are working to continually redefine flying as a productive, socially connected, and all-around more satisfying experience.
