Charles C. Townsend

Mr. Townsend is President and CEO of Aloha Partners II. Aloha Partners II is the 11th largest owner of wireless spectrum in the United States. Aloha Partners II has wireless licenses in 12 of the top 50 markets; including San Francisco, Sacramento, San Jose, Denver, Cleveland, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh. The Aloha Partners II strategy is to use its spectrum to provide high speed wireless internet service in major metropolitan areas throughout the U.S.

From 2002-2008, Mr. Townsend was the President and CEO of Aloha Partners. Aloha Partners was the largest owner of 700MHz spectrum in the United States until the spring of 2008 when it sold all its licenses to AT&T. Aloha pioneered using 700MHz for wireless Broadband in Phoenix in 2006. AT&T and Verizon followed Aloha’s lead with nationwide wireless Broadband rollouts using 700MHz spectrum several years later.

Mr. Townsend has served on the Board of Directors of the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA) from 1990 to the present and represented the small wireless operators on the CTIA Executive Committee from 1992 to 2009.

Mr. Townsend holds a B.A. in Social Psychology from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
