Itasca, IL. — September 22, 2011 — Gogo Inc., the leading provider of in-flight Wi-Fi, has launched a major consumer marketing campaign. Gogo® expects the fully integrated campaign to ultimately introduce more travelers to the magic of being in air and online.
The campaign introduces a new tag line – “Land on Top of Things” – and centers around an eccentric new spokesperson, Trav Lehrman. The campaign will come to life through national and major market television advertising; radio spots featuring popular on-air personalities at leading CBS radio stations in top U.S. markets; airport based advertising and events; aggressive online display and video ads; and social media. The campaign will also feature a sweepstakes to win free Gogo for life and a $10,000 in air, online shopping spree. The contest runs from Sept. 19 to Oct. 14. “This is the first major advertising campaign since we unveiled the new look and feel of our brand in July,” said Ash ElDifrawi, Gogo executive vice president and chief marketing officer. “Our goal has always been to make Gogo everyone’s favorite part of flying and we hope that, through this campaign, travelers and marketers will open their eyes to the benefits of being in air and online.”
Overall, Gogo created three new television spots that can be viewed here, but central to the campaign is a character named Trav Lehrman. Trav Lehrman is quick to get carried away, especially when talking about doing things online. He’s enamored by the potential of the Internet and all the amazing, often odd, things he can do in the air with Gogo. Trav even has his own Web site at www.travlehrman.com where visitors can learn everything they need to know, and maybe some things they don’t want to know, about Trav.
“Trav Lehrman, the main character in our campaign, is a guy who has clearly figured out ways to use Gogo while flying that other passengers may not have thought of,” said ElDifrawi. “While the guy sitting next to him is playing his 50th game of solitaire during their flight, Trav Lehrman is the type of guy that’s using Gogo to do incredible, albeit odd, things like buying a chandelier made from the antlers of a gazelle. Our hope is that Trav will help travelers understand how Gogo can quickly become their favorite part of flying.”
Gogo is the most widely deployed in-flight Wi-Fi service and is available today on nearly 1200 commercial aircraft.
