TORONTO – (CanadaNewsWire) – November 4, 2010 -- SkySurf Canada Communications Inc. and Aircell LLC today announced the execution of a Detailed Heads of Agreement whereby SkySurf will provide inflight Internet services to Canadian commercial airline passengers. The Agreement anticipates that SkySurf will roll out an Air-to-Ground (ATG) network in Canada to enable SkySurf services for commercial airlines in Canadian airspace under the SkySurf banner. Through a roaming arrangement with Aircell, SkySurf will use Aircell’s existing ATG network to provide inflight Internet services to Canadian airline passengers flying over the continental United States. A reciprocal roaming arrangement will allow Aircell to provide its Gogo® Inflight Internet services to passengers on U.S. commercial aircraft flying over Canada.

Under the Agreement, SkySurf will be the first and only Canadian provider of inflight Internet service using Aircell's proven ATG technology, with the capacity to provide voice, data connectivity and entertainment services. Aircell has successfully commercialized its groundbreaking wireless mobile broadband solution and is currently providing Gogo Inflight Internet service on more than 1,030 aircraft operated by eight major US airlines. Additional aircraft are being Gogo-equipped every day.

"By signing this Agreement, SkySurf has achieved a major milestone in its roll out of ATG services in Canada," stated Raed Almasri, President of SkySurf. "We are convinced that airline travelers are eagerly looking for our services to be offered by Canada's airlines enabling reliable, convenient and affordable Internet access while in the air."

Michael Small, President and CEO of Aircell commented, “We are excited about collaborating with SkySurf and are looking forward to providing Gogo service on commercial flights seamlessly across the US / Canadian border when SkySurf’s ATG network is in place.”

"As the leader in ATG communications, Aircell has revolutionized inflight connectivity and SkySurf is planning to deploy Aircell’s market-leading technology to provide services that are best suited to meet the needs of Canadian airlines and their passengers,” continued Mr. Almasri.

SkySurf aims to launch its ATG-based inflight connectivity service with selected Canadian airlines in 2011.

SkySurf holds the exclusive radio spectrum licence from Industry Canada to provide ATG inflight communication service to aircraft in Canada. Aircell holds the exclusive license from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to provide ATG inflight communication service to aircraft in the US.
